Social media is great blog promotion tools. On blogging, either for personal or for business blog, promotion is important. For make money blogger getting traffic is mean getting more potential income. That’s why people try to use social media to promote their blog and getting traffic.

But, when talking about social media the problem is witch the effective ways to promote your blog. There are many social media on internet. Not all of them are relevant to getting traffic. Times tell us what to use. Some of them die, and the other survive even becomes skyrockets.

Since Twitter introduced Twitter Lists, there is a new option for promoting your blog on Twitter. Facebook also allow you to create lists. So you can set your home wall stream to just seeing update from organized lists. Yes, Twitter list is newcomer compared to facebook. As you know twitter and facebook are competing on provide features to make people connected and easier to share information.

I make money from my blog and not all of my networking on facebook is have ability to buy product from internet. For many reason paypal is not familiar for my local network. Most of them not buying product from the internet.

So I getting traffic just from freebie I share on my blog or tips I have write. Yes I also make money from facebook by offering Wordpress Installation. I offer services for people I know well.

I think Facebook is a better on control the segmented market because it allows you to establish relationships. On Facebook you can read someone’s profile page, there you can see what they like and are interested in.

Twitter network for me personally is wider than facebook. We can connect with people that have same topics interest. I think twitter is easier to get instant traffic. I have doubled my traffic each day.

Easy to use and share content

For twitter I use TweetMeme to allow my blog visitor easier to share my blog post by one click. You can also set the tweet to automatically add re-tweet to make you easier to recognize whose tweet your posts. I also use Sexy-Bookmark Wordpress Plugin to add other social media link with icon to make my visitor easier to share my blog post, including to facebook.

On my opinion getting traffic from twitter is easier since you can automatically tweet your posts. Some application like SocialOomph comes to help you automate twitter update.

The problem is you need to watch people response to your tweet. It’s nice to say thanks to people that re-tweet your update or answer people question about your tweet. For Facebook I try to make a Facebook fans. I think Facebook page is more effective to promote blog than Facebook group. I see groups on Facebook not well enough; people join and then leave it. They can’t saw your update on home wall so they not give responses.

Recommendation: Better to ‘Use Better’ than Just Choose ‘the One’

I think both of twitter and facebook are effective in their own way. The best way to promote your blog via twitter and facebook is integrate your twitter account to tweet your new post to facebook via facebook tools. Previously I use RSS Gravity.

Now I am going to try to use Selective Twitter Status App. You can add selective tweet update to facebook fans by Add Selective Twitter Status to your Page. With this app not all of your tweet status post will update your facebook fans. You may reply your follower on Twitter and that will be worse to let it update on Facebook wall. This app allows you to update facebook with selective Twitter status. You just need to close your twitter status with #fb tag.

With this method you can update your Twitter status and facebook on one time. It’s really help. So you can benefit from twitter ‘wider reachable’ and facebook ‘more controllable’ social media campaign.
