As person who enjoys social media I was very pleased connecting with those who have same interests. But, how if someone unfollowed you in social media. What’s wrong with you?

But this is reality. Not everyone likes what you are talking in Social Media. The problem is how to know why someone unfollowed you on Twitter? You probably can not ask your tweeple ‘ex-friend’. The solution is research when someone unfollowing you? A lot of Twitter follower unfollow you after you tweet something, then you will be able to evaluate and do better.

If you think that BIG and experienced companies always have good customer service then you are wrong. Hesham from Famous Blogger shows how large companies like GoDaddy failed to provide good customer service trough social media.

Frankly it makes me think hard enough. Why is a company that I think has a very large income can not handle this thing? And I failed to find the answer. My consideration is pretty simple. As a blogger I can write posts, keyword research, chatting with my friends in social media (both of twitter or facebook), leave a comment on my friends blog etc, so why they can’t?

Rinaldi Syahran reminds me of what he read on Famous Blogger and tell it to me. I never felt the same way; but different from Hesham I only bothered with manage host interface and loading time. Then I left the hosting service and only use the domain name service alone, because some friends have the same frustrated about problems happen to me.

Fail in dealing with social media

More than service and other of technical issues, this GoDaddy problem is a failure in dealing with social media, its may happen to other companies and may be you as a blogger. Hesham also include some screenshots that make you be more careful when entering social media. Do not let you experience the same failure.

Just a Simple Conclusions

I have a simple conclusion: First, Do not use social media if you do not really know what you should do. Second, GoDaddy is good for domain name (and any other purchase and sale domain activity) but not for hosting.

Social media is great blog promotion tools. On blogging, either for personal or for business blog, promotion is important. For make money blogger getting traffic is mean getting more potential income. That’s why people try to use social media to promote their blog and getting traffic.

But, when talking about social media the problem is witch the effective ways to promote your blog. There are many social media on internet. Not all of them are relevant to getting traffic. Times tell us what to use. Some of them die, and the other survive even becomes skyrockets.

‘two most popular are twitter and facebook. The question is which is better?’

Since Twitter introduced Twitter Lists, there is a new option for promoting your blog on Twitter. Facebook also allow you to create lists. So you can set your home wall stream to just seeing update from organized lists. Yes, Twitter list is newcomer compared to facebook. As you know twitter and facebook are competing on provide features to make people connected and easier to share information.

I assume that you have known about Twitter lists. But just in case you don’t this is a simple explanation about Twitter lists I put from Adele McAlear blog:

Lists allow Twitter users to organize the people they follow into groups. By segmenting your following list into groups, you can then filter tweets from your main stream and just view the tweets originating from a selected list. You can also subscribe to other people’s lists.

To get the best answer for question above you need to consider some factors. So you can get the best result for your blog promotion. I am take facebook with more personal networking approach. I make money from my blog and not all of my networking on facebook is have ability to buy product from internet. For many reason paypal is not familiar for my local network. Most of them not buying product from the internet.

So I getting traffic just from freebie I share on my blog or tips I have write. Yes I also make money from facebook by offering Wordpress Installation. I offer services for people I know well.

I think Facebook is a better on control the segmented market because it allows you to establish relationships. On Facebook you can read someone’s profile page, there you can see what they like and are interested in.

Twitter network for me personally is wider than facebook. We can connect with people that have same topics interest. I think twitter is easier to get instant traffic. I have doubled my traffic each day.

Easy to use and share content

For twitter I use TweetMeme to allow my blog visitor easier to share my blog post by one click. You can also set the tweet to automatically add re-tweet to make you easier to recognize whose tweet your posts. I also use Sexy-Bookmark Wordpress Plugin to add other social media link with icon to make my visitor easier to share my blog post, including to facebook.

On my opinion getting traffic from twitter is easier since you can automatically tweet your posts. Some application like SocialOomph comes to help you automate twitter update.

The problem is you need to watch people response to your tweet. It’s nice to say thanks to people that re-tweet your update or answer people question about your tweet. For Facebook I try to make a Facebook fans. I think Facebook page is more effective to promote blog than Facebook group. I see groups on Facebook not well enough; people join and then leave it. They can’t saw your update on home wall so they not give responses.

Recommendation: Better to ‘Use Better’ than Just Choose ‘the One’

I think both of twitter and facebook are effective in their own way. The best way to promote your blog via twitter and facebook is integrate your twitter account to tweet your new post to facebook via facebook tools. Previously I use RSS Gravity.

Now I am going to try to use Selective Twitter Status App. You can add selective tweet update to facebook fans by Add Selective Twitter Status to your Page. With this app not all of your tweet status post will update your facebook fans. You may reply your follower on Twitter and that will be worse to let it update on Facebook wall. This app allows you to update facebook with selective Twitter status. You just need to close your twitter status with #fb tag.

With this method you can update your Twitter status and facebook on one time. It’s really help. So you can benefit from twitter ‘wider reachable’ and facebook ‘more controllable’ social media campaign.

You can help facebook by providing them with accurate and detailed information. You can help Facebook to locate and remove abuse on Facebook as quickly and efficiently as possible. On efforts to make Facebook a safe and trusted environment, Facebook recently make possible for you to send them more specific and detailed reports of abuse.

You can use specific categories to classify the issues you may come across. You can also send Facebook the detail location of abuse that include in videos or text on new fields facebook recently added.

For instance, when reporting an offensive photo, you can select from the following reasons for why it may violate Facebook Statement of Rights and Responsibilities:

• nudity or pornography
• drug use
• excessive gore or violence
• attacks individual or group
• Advertisement or spam or infringes on your intellectual property

Note: Facebook won’t remove a photo or video just because it’s unflattering.

You can teel facebook and let them know when you see objectionable content. These additional details are an important for the process. Facebook promise that they will continue improve user experience and give the proper tools to report bad content and behavior to keep Facebook clean.

Like other social media you can send a message that can only be read by a spesific person. If you are actively in a forum you must be have using a Personal Messages or PMs. In Twitter messages directly to another twitter user called DMs or Direct Messages. DMs that you sent will be entered into other twitter user inbox.

• Send updates

This is the most exciting thing from Twitter. You can update your status in 140 characters. This may be very short, but that’s makes twitter great. You have 140 characters so optimize it to describe your. Simply enough! That’s what I can say about twitter. You only use a line short word, but if you find people with similar interests then you will be well connected with them.

• Use hashtags

Usually hashtag is use for hot topic that loved by many people. But hashtag can also use to indicate that you have an interest in a specific topic. In using hashtag you must type the word with # prefix and then continue with keywords from topics you discussed. Update your twitter status by using hashtag will be fun activity, but do not use it excessively.

The numbers have important meaning in many things, and that it is also true in marketing. Another thing why I do not recommend someone for being offhand on following other people on twitter is the number that may appear on your twitter account (there is psychological of ratio number have significant aspect on make a decision to following someone on twitter).

On first time I make a twitter account I want to have friends as much as possible, but after I realized there is not every single twitter I following like to following me back. I start to understand, this is not about the number.

The number of connectivity or the number of prospect?

There is much controversial about using twitter for marketing, you can not make each person who’s following you as your marketing prospects, this is a different with email marketing. They get regular promotions based on permission? That’s why in the first time confirmation email you find ‘I can’t send you email containing blogging and make money online tips before you make a confirmation and give me permission’. But twitter?

Many people say, conversation is more important. For me to respond to people who need help or just respond to opinions of others is quite good strategy in get more follower, and this is the essence: the number does not matters without quality and same interest.

Assuming that Marketing is evil and kick them from twitter is weird

This is the same with email that is used to connect with other people, blog are used to connect with other people too, etc. Yes, internet makes us easier and get the advantages to associated and connected with other people, for a variety of interests including marketing and promotion.

Someone says ‘do not try to following me I will block you!’ Because of someone doing marketing on twitter (I read this on comment on blog post writing about make money from twitter). Twitter marketing is reality and marketing is not evil anymore. Of course we make a different between marketing with lie, and this has changed since a long time, since making a personal approach as a marketing approach. And I think reasonable if people choose to buy the product by recommendation from someone who their trusts.

So, is number doesn’t matters?

The answer is yes! But the next question is ‘when?’ When the number is important? When you start tweeting, then you surely know, I very rarely following people who’s does not update their twitter status, following tons of people and do not have any same interest with me. It is simple.

Okay, I will give you an example. I’ll follow people interested in blogging, make money online, SEO and wordpress themes. Why? Because this relates to my interest, help me get this information I need through twitter.

As a twitter user, I will wasting time, if I only to use it as a tool to gather information and feedback. This as well as search for information on Google, I read the information and I do not do anything. Of course I have to update my blog and make it nice to read, and I invite other people to read my post, this means I do a promotion.

If I suggested my friend to read other posts from other blog, then I’ll give them a link. If I recommend a person to purchase goods, and people assume I really know well about the product it is mean I make an effort to make sales or doing marketing process.

There are many people who feel as a Guru, expert, Rockstar and master of social media say, it is bullshit to using twitter for marketing. But why? Marketing and communication have a same side there is to have connectivity.

If there is such hype, so try to following right person. Even a marketers need to follow right person. If you following people as much as possible but do not have any related with your interest then at that time you do not understand about the importance of the number. It is simple, and it is traditional. many people trying to being expert by telling that this is for connectivity, this is for communication! Of course it is and because of that the marketers try it to make sales from it. That is fair enough, right?
